A OpenGov Case Study
The City of Ivins, Utah — a small bedroom community of about 8,000 residents with a $16M annual budget — needed to maintain fiscal health and improve budgeting as it grew. Its spreadsheet-based process forced the finance director to consolidate and reenter department data, limited collaboration, and made it difficult to plan for future expenses or staffing needs.
Ivins adopted OpenGov Budget Builder, a cloud-based budgeting platform that let department heads input and update figures directly and view impacts over time. The change cut the finance director’s budgeting time by half, revealed internal savings to fund two new FTEs, and increased department ownership and year-round financial visibility.
