A OpenGov Case Study
Sunset Valley, TX faced major financial uncertainty during the early pandemic, including a potential revenue drop of nearly 20%, while trying to preserve its no-property-tax policy and manage limited fees and sales tax exposure. The city turned to OpenGov to get clearer, timely budget and spending data and to help leaders and stakeholders make informed decisions.
Using OpenGov’s budgeting and OpenGov Stories tools, Sunset Valley identified projects that could be paused, uncovered spend misalignments, and communicated tradeoffs more effectively. OpenGov helped the city shift to more agile, month-to-month budgeting, saving one-half of an FTE finance position, reducing paper use, and cutting lengthy iteration time across teams.
