A OpenGov Case Study
The City of Anacortes needed a better way to manage a growing number of public works assets and tasks, replacing paper-heavy, manual workflows and outdated systems that made field communication, data entry, and strategic planning difficult. OpenGov’s Cartegraph Asset Management was chosen to help the small team handle its expanding workload and provide a more accessible, community-friendly view of asset data.
OpenGov implemented Cartegraph Asset Management with customized workflows, GIS-based asset tracking, labor reporting, and staff training to support adoption across departments. The results included improved transparency through public GIS maps, faster collaboration on nearly 200 public requests and 9,000 tasks per month, and growth from 30 asset types to more than 100. OpenGov also helped the City make better budget and staffing decisions through labor tracking and cleaner data for future capital planning.
