Charlotte County, FL faced a challenge in managing its extensive inventory of 85,000 traffic signs. While using OpenGov (then Cartegraph) for sign inventory, the county struggled with inefficient paper-based work orders, a lack of GIS asset data, and clunky systems that hindered their disaster recovery and FEMA reporting efforts following Hurricane Charley.
The solution was implementing OpenGov's operations management software, which provided a mobile platform for field crews using iPads. This streamlined work order management and asset data collection. As a result, OpenGov enabled the county to efficiently manage all 85,000 signs, significantly streamline its disaster recovery and FEMA reporting processes, and provide real-time data for citizens and commissioners.
