Bingham County, ID, Beats the Elements with Online Permitting

Bingham County needed to cut six-week permit review times, reduce paper-based inefficiencies, and keep operations moving during COVID-19. The county was dealing with incomplete applications, repeated manual data entry, and slow zoning reviews, so it turned to OpenGov Permitting & Licensing to modernize its permitting process.

OpenGov implemented an online service portal, required fields and checklists for applications, and GIS parcel integration with Esri ArcGIS to streamline zoning review and data collection. As a result, Bingham County issued 123 building permits after launch, saved just over 30 hours of work, reduced plan review time by 50% to three weeks, and helped drive a 41% increase in new construction in the first quarter compared to the prior year.
