BMW worked with Open Cascade on the Quick Mesh Application to speed up car model development. BMW needed a way to streamline the generation of meshed models from different CAD modelers for aerodynamic and prototyping studies.

Open Cascade developed a semi-automatic graphic preprocessor using the Open CASCADE Application Framework, integrating external tools such as Simulog’s mesh optimization component. The solution generates meshes from CATIA V4 and other CAD models for BMW’s CFD solver, cutting the development process from several days to several hours and supporting 3D model preparation for analytical studies.
