Marklund is a nonprofit intermediate care organization serving infants, children, teens and adults with serious developmental disabilities; its Hyde Center houses 96 residents across six residential homes. Staffing was managed with manual, paper-based schedules that lacked cross-site visibility, produced inflexible year-long rotations, drove overtime and agency use, and made call-offs extremely time-consuming—schedulers sometimes had to contact up to 200 people to fill shifts.
Marklund implemented OnShift’s online scheduling, mobile app and mass-notification tools to match preferred shifts, view real-time staffing and quickly notify qualified staff about open shifts. The result was consistent staffing and higher-quality care: a 95.7% client satisfaction rating, a 96% reduction in time to fill open shifts, a 22.8% reduction in average monthly overtime, and scheduler response time shrinking from days to hours.
