Aurora Health & Rehabilitation, a 120-bed long-term care community in Columbus, Mississippi (part of Vanguard Healthcare Services) with about 125 staff, struggled with manual, paper-based scheduling and a hotline-based feedback system. That led to missed shifts, unnecessary overtime (as high as 4%), time-consuming call-off coverage, low morale, poor onboarding visibility and weak communication—problems that grew during the COVID-19 pandemic.
By implementing OnShift Schedule and OnShift Engage with proactive Customer Success support, Aurora moved scheduling to mobile/online, used predictive overtime alerts, enabled instant group messaging, launched point-based rewards and daily pulse surveys, and added anonymous feedback channels. The changes produced a 75% increase in employee communications, 45% increase in employee satisfaction, 50% time savings on call-off/open-shift management, 15% fewer late clock-ins and overtime reduced to below 2% (a 2.3% YoY improvement), along with better onboarding insights.
