PayPal engaged Onit to modernize its legal operations and move beyond traditional transactional ELM toward a “system of engagement” focused on process, workflow and collaboration. Facing fragmented tools (spreadsheets, multiple matter-management systems), evolving eBilling needs, and rising global demands, PayPal sought a configurable platform and workflow automation to streamline intake, matter and spend management.

Onit delivered a next‑generation ELM approach—consolidating eBilling and matter management, replacing four disparate systems with a single system of record, and rolling out intake-driven workflow apps (e.g., contract request portals, trackers). The Onit solution centralized data into one warehouse, improved reporting and analytics, automated key processes (invoicing, forecasting/accruals, OCLO reports), and freed operational bandwidth so PayPal could scale legal operations and capture end-to-end metrics.
