VMware, a global leader in cloud and virtualization technology, needed to transform its legal operations from a risk‑avoidant function into a data‑driven business partner that could automate end‑to‑end processes and improve responsiveness to the enterprise. To achieve that, VMware worked with Onit (OnitX Platform), alongside Harbor and NetDocuments, to build an integrated legal technology ecosystem that would centralize matter, contract, and document management.

Onit deployed its OnitX solutions—Enterprise Legal Management (ELM), Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Apptitude—integrated with NetDocuments and core systems via custom workflows and Tableau dashboards to create a centralized legal “cockpit.” The Onit implementation reduced manual work, sped contracting times, delivered visibility into matters, spend and contract status (e.g., Matters by Counsel, Spend by Matter Type), enabled self‑service portals, and produced measurable gains in efficiency, compliance and cost savings for VMware.
