Amazon CloudFront Scales Environment for Super Bowl Traffic

Samsung worked with Onica to prepare for a Super Bowl Halftime Show campaign that needed to handle massive spikes in traffic from Samsung Smart TVs. The challenge was to support more than 4,000,000 concurrent connections and the rapid flow of data during one of the biggest live TV events ever, using services such as Amazon CloudFront and AWS-based infrastructure.

Onica built and tested a highly scalable solution using Amazon CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk, Kinesis Data Streams, Redshift, S3, and custom VPC infrastructure to manage real-time logging, data delivery, and analytics. The team successfully load-tested the environment up to 500,000 requests per second and even 1,000,000 concurrent requests per second, helping Samsung deliver live feedback and data from more than 6.5 million Smart TVs.
