Telefonica España, a large telecommunications operator with a complex multi‑domain Active Directory (AD) environment, faced security, compliance and operational challenges from too many IT staff requiring Domain Admin access and the limitations of native AD delegation. To address these risks and simplify administration, Telefonica chose One Identity’s Active Roles to provide role‑based, granular delegation and better visibility into AD changes.
One Identity implemented Active Roles as a “firewall” around AD, delegating precise access by role, domain and location, automating bulk processes and providing personalized consoles for operations teams. The deployment quickly optimized the number of domain administrator accounts, significantly reduced privileged users, freed high‑level technical resources for innovation, reduced manual errors and delivered clearer control and auditing of the AD environment.
