A Omnitracs Case Study
Fraley & Schilling, an Indiana‑based carrier operating a roughly 500‑truck lightweight fleet across the eastern U.S., wanted to strengthen driver safety, reduce collisions and better protect drivers and assets. As an industry pioneer, the company sought a practical video-based solution that would overcome initial driver skepticism and provide actionable insights for coaching and incident defense.
After piloting several options, Fraley & Schilling chose SmartDrive and deployed dual in-cab and forward-facing cameras across its company-owned trucks, using volunteer beta drivers and quarterly meetings to build buy-in. With data-driven coaching and event review, the fleet achieved a 67% reduction in collision frequency in the first 18 months, a 42% year-over-year drop in 2017 over 19 million miles, and about $0.02 per mile in cost savings, while improving driver exoneration, recognition and overall safety culture.
