Case Study: Davis Transfer Company achieves fuel savings and increased profits with Omnitracs Fuel Manager

A Omnitracs Case Study

Preview of the Davis Transfer Company Case Study

Trucking Companies Rely on Performance Monitoring Featuring Fuel Manager to Keep Costs Down and Profits Up

Omnitracs worked with two southeastern carriers—Southern Tank Transport and Davis Transfer Company—facing rising fuel costs and limited visibility into the driver and vehicle behaviors that drive fuel consumption. Both companies needed a way to distinguish driver habits from vehicle issues and to target wasteful behaviors like excessive idling, improper shifting, and speeding.

They implemented Omnitracs’ Performance Monitoring with Fuel Manager to track driver and vehicle performance, generate scorecards, and enable coaching and maintenance follow-up. Results included clearer visibility into fuel drivers, reduced idling, and higher MPG: Southern Tank’s fleet MPG rose from about 5.74 to 6.05 with short idling down ~8% and extended idling down ~4%, while Davis Transfer’s MPG increased from 6.1 to 6.8 and company-wide idling fell from ~45–50% to 7–8%, alongside faster identification of maintenance issues and improved driver coaching.
