Dayton Freight Lines Improves MPG, Stops per Hour, and Customer Service with Driver Workflow

Dayton Freight Lines, a privately owned LTL carrier based in Dayton, Ohio with 42 service centers and over 8,000 customers, needed to preserve its “Dayton Difference” in customer service while addressing the pressures of multi-stop planning, rising fuel and labor costs, manual paperwork and the need for more timely freight information.

Dayton implemented Omnitracs’ Driver Workflow on the MCP200 to automate load assignments, trip planning, work forms and real-time messaging (including barcode scanning and paperless exception forms). The result: stops per hour rose ~3%, MPG improved 7.7%, data-entry hours and customer phone inquiries fell, driver satisfaction and compliance increased, and the company strengthened on-time and claims-free performance.
