A Omnitracs Case Study
Dayton Freight Lines, a private LTL carrier founded in 1981 and headquartered in Dayton, Ohio with 54 service centers and over 8,000 customers across 13 Midwestern states, needed technology to improve customer service and driver satisfaction while cutting administrative and fuel costs. Despite prior investments, the company struggled with manual processes and needed a way to automate workflows and deliver uninterrupted, accurate information.
In 2008 Dayton partnered with Omnitracs, deploying Driver Workflow on the MCP 200 and adding the Intelligent Vehicle Gateway to automate load assignments, event triggers and work forms and provide near‑real‑time data. The result was faster, more accurate operations and measurable gains: 20% growth, 98.75% on‑time shipments, 99.8% claim‑free shipments, a 3% increase in stops per hour, a 7.7% boost in MPG, reduced preventable accidents to 0.14 per million miles, fewer data‑entry hours and improved data accuracy.
