A Omnitracs Case Study
Brooks-DeHart Furniture Xpress is a Newton, NC–based carrier operating a 100-truck fleet across 15 Southeastern states, with most long-haul trucks making regular runs into Florida to deliver furniture. The company struggled with a transponder-based weigh-station bypass system that was costly to manage, prone to lost devices, offered limited location coverage, and still forced many Florida-bound trucks to stop at agricultural inspection sites—sometimes adding up to 20 minutes per stop.
After switching to Omnitracs Weigh Station Bypass (Drivewyze PreClear), which uses geofencing instead of transponders and provides heads-up notifications and Ag-site bypasses without a lengthy application process, Brooks-DeHart saw immediate gains: drivers can cover about 700 miles per day instead of roughly 600, increasing deliveries and pay; in January 2017 the fleet logged 2,572 bypasses, avoided 73 hours of delays, achieved a 71% bypass rate, and saved more than $11,237 in operating costs, while reducing detention risk and improving overall productivity.
