Bozzuto’s Inc., a grocery and foodservice distributor based in Cheshire, CT, was struggling with inefficient routes, underfilled trucks and complex customer time windows. After past attempts failed and management hesitated, VP of Distribution Services Jay McDowell selected Omnitracs Roadnet to address routing, time-window management and operational inefficiencies.
Using Roadnet, Bozzuto’s redesigned customer time windows, implemented minimum order quantities, trained staff at Roadnet University and centralized routing. Results: cube per load +14.2%, drivers’ hours −8.4%, mileage −2.2% and volume +6.7%, while routing labor fell from three people (6 a.m.–6 p.m.) to one (5 a.m.–2 p.m.) with daily route tracking.
