Staff Squared is an HR app for small and medium-sized businesses that found user acquisition harder than building the product. After launching a site that relied on email and phone support, the team saw lots of visitors but low engagement and few demo or trial sign-ups, and wanted a faster, on-site way for prospects to ask questions without interrupting their browsing.
They added Olark live chat, using a 30‑second Greeter, regular transcript reviews to inform site updates, and a clear “FREE” demo prompt in the chat. As a result trial sign-ups doubled (from 4% to 8% of visitors), demo requests rose from 2 to 5 per week, customer experience improved, and the team plans to extend chat into the app to boost trial-to-paid conversions.
