Case Study: Goldcorp achieves unified global employee recognition and engagement with O.C. Tanner

A O.C. Tanner Case Study

Preview of the Goldcorp Case Study

How do you recognize different experiences in different parts of the world

Goldcorp, grown by mergers into one of the world’s largest gold producers with about 18,000 employees and operations across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Chile and Argentina, faced inconsistent recognition practices after integrating diverse mines. Leadership needed a global recognition program that celebrated long-tenured workers and introduced recognition to newer sites—flexible enough for local culture and logistics but aligned to a single corporate vision.

Goldcorp partnered with O.C. Tanner to launch multilingual Career Celebrations (English, French, Spanish), supported by manager tip sheets, posters, intranet communications and a CEO Town Hall. In two years more than 2,862 celebrations were held; pulse surveys reported increased pride, appreciation for awards, and stronger leader connections. The program helped unify disparate locations under Goldcorp’s brand, drove adoption of personalized Yearbook keepsakes, and became a model for future global people initiatives.
