A NovoEd Case Study
Stanford University set out to identify what drives engagement and persistence in online courses and how to boost learner outcomes. Drawing on a study of 26,248 students in a Technology Entrepreneurship course, Stanford examined the effects of team-based learning and mentorship using NovoEd’s collaborative learning platform.
NovoEd delivered a team- and mentor‑based solution on its platform that increased engagement and performance: learners on teams signed on 5× more, remained active 2× longer, and contributed to discussions 3× more, and were 79% more likely to take another course and 81% more likely to recommend it. Adding mentors further improved outcomes—sign‑ons up 26%, active participation up 50%, discussion contributions up 36%, and average team scores up 37%—demonstrating NovoEd’s measurable impact.
