How Distilled upgraded its legacy VPN with a cloud-based solution for remote network access

Distilled, an Irish real estate and classifieds platform, needed a better way to support remote employees accessing legacy internal systems that were originally tied to an office IP address. Its legacy VPN setup was complex to maintain, created multiple points of failure, and placed extra pressure on a small IT team, especially when support was needed outside normal working hours.

Distilled implemented NordLayer’s Server with a dedicated IP to provide a fixed, secure IP address for remote access, integrated with IAM and 2FA for company-managed devices, and added a backup server for resilience. With NordLayer, the team deployed secure access quickly, reduced VPN-related overhead, eliminated the need for onsite fixes when connections dropped, and gave users a simple experience that “just works” in the background.
