How CMHA protected sensitive client data in dynamic team environments

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Alberta South Region is a mental health nonprofit serving Southwestern Alberta and supporting people through housing, crisis services, case management, peer support, education, and advocacy. With a small IT team, frequent staff onboarding and turnover, mobile work across sites, and strict requirements to keep client data stored in Canada, CMHA needed a simpler way to protect sensitive information and manage access without relying on a costly, aging in-house VPN.

NordLayer provided a centrally managed security solution with features such as Always On VPN, KillSwitch, Web Protection, and user activity visibility through the Control Panel. CMHA says NordLayer helped reduce network issues, streamline onboarding/offboarding, and quickly stop a network intrusion attempt that could have exposed client data. The result was stronger security, better compliance support, and less time spent on manual IT maintenance.
