How Patrick Delcoigne is driving sustainable broadband at Proximus to create a positive impact and enrich peoples’ lives

Nokia partnered with Belgian telecom operator Proximus, who faced the challenge of continuously meeting the country's exponentially growing demand for broadband data. Proximus needed to evolve its network to support new services, replace eroding voice revenues, and transition from copper to fiber, all while focusing on sustainability and operational efficiency.

Nokia co-developed and provided multiple pioneering solutions, including the groundbreaking TITAN IP network, VDSL2 vectoring, and 25G PON fiber technology. These implementations allowed Proximus to become a multi-time world-first innovator, successfully multiplying network capacity by 40 and tripling internet speeds for subscribers. The results include a fully modernized, automated, and sustainable network that has won global awards, enabling Proximus to offer multi-gigabit services to nearly the entire Belgian population.
