Network Rail, Kings Cross Station - Customer Case Study

Network Rail’s Kings Cross station in London — a historic transport hub handling some 47 million annual passengers — faced rising visitor numbers and increasing safety, security and operational demands. The challenge was to improve overall performance without replacing a robust but fragmented legacy infrastructure that included hundreds of analogue CCTV cameras and eight separate security sub-systems.

Network Rail implemented NICE Situator, a Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) solution, to unite all sensors and systems into a single, standardized control-room interface. The integration enabled automated response plans and adaptive workflows, faster coordination with onsite and external stakeholders, minimal operator training, and better operational insight — delivering centralized station management, consistent security and safety handling, and improved response efficiency while preserving prior investments.
