A NICE Systems Case Study
Grand Valley State University, a 24,000‑person campus in Allendale, Michigan, faced a major operational gap in its 24/7 public safety dispatch center: calls were logged on paper, making court testimony and incident review slow and unreliable. Dispatch Supervisor Lisa Garringer’s challenge was to modernize call recording and documentation on a tight budget while keeping the system simple enough for staff with varying computer skills.
GVSU implemented the Mirra IV recording solution, an economical, browser‑based system with extensive online archiving and easy access from any networked PC. Since its 2007 installation the system has improved incident documentation and verification, supported detective investigations (including recorded confessions), and—unexpectedly—become a highly effective training tool for supervisors and staff.
