BNSF Railway, one of North America’s largest rail networks with roughly 38,000 employees and 33,000 route miles, needed a security overhaul to protect high‑value storage and intermodal transit points across vast, low‑light yard environments. The challenge required an enterprise‑grade, 24/7 system that could withstand harsh industrial conditions and coordinate with radio, network, safety and police groups while tying video to access control and alarm systems.

SCI implemented NICE Vision digital video as part of an integrated solution—linking long‑range, low‑light cameras to card access, alarm monitoring, automated camera call‑up, and centralized control via fiber optic transmission. The deployment improved identification of vehicles and personnel, centralized monitoring, and alarm response, resulting in a 60% reduction in crime in the first year and helped clear more than 60 felonies.
