NIC Group PLC (NIC Bank) — a multi-country banking group with 48 branches and over 1,000 staff across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda — set out to expand branches and product offerings but was constrained by paper-based, decentralized back-office processes. Slow, opaque loan approvals, heavy document movement and limited tracking threatened the bank’s agility and growth plans.
Partnering with Newgen, NIC implemented a BPM/ECM solution (OmniFlow, OmniDocs, OmniScan) and built Central and Regional Processing Centres to automate lending, account opening and other core processes. The transformation cut turnaround time by 65% (loan approvals from 3–7 days to 1–2 days), increased processing volumes (asset finance applications doubled/tripled), boosted productivity ~90%, improved compliance and first‑time‑right rates, reduced document transfer to seconds and halved operational costs, significantly improving customer satisfaction.
