A New Relic Case Study
BloomThat, a San Francisco–based same-day flower delivery service available via web and iOS, needed to ensure a frictionless ordering experience by catching production website problems before customers did. Rather than building a synthetic monitoring tool in-house, the engineering team sought a proactive solution to go beyond real-time user monitoring and chose New Relic Synthetics for its ease of use and scripting and waterfall-charting features.
After a five-minute install, New Relic Synthetics generated synthetic traffic and scripted checks that uncovered costly issues—like SSL negotiation delays and a 2.5 MB home-page image—allowing BloomThat to change CDNs and optimize assets. The fixes cut load times from roughly 500 ms to about 20 ms, surfaced other previously unknown problems, and gave the team confidence to deliver a consistently higher-quality customer experience.
