A New Relic Case Study
Watsi is a San Francisco–based non-profit crowdfunding platform (founded in 2012) that connects donors to life-changing medical care around the world. With a small team and a Heroku-hosted app used in regions with slow or intermittent Internet, Watsi needed better visibility into availability, response time, and usability so it could scale by word-of-mouth and ensure the platform worked for users in low-bandwidth geographies.
By adopting New Relic APM and Browser, Watsi gained a single pane of glass for end-to-end performance monitoring and real-time geographic insights (helping to pinpoint a DNS issue in Guatemala) and deeper visibility into the Heroku stack. This enabled faster detection and resolution of problems, more robust software for users with poor connectivity, improved developer workflows, and continued scaling of Watsi’s platform and data-driven funding of hundreds of medical interventions.
