A New Relic Case Study
Share Now, the Daimler–BMW car‑sharing joint venture, runs a 20,000‑vehicle free‑floating fleet across 16 major European cities and needed to scale rapidly to stay ahead of intense competition. Moving from an internal project to a microservices‑based, multi‑cloud operation (about 90 services), the company faced challenges around real‑time analysis, end‑to‑end visibility, and the ability to deploy and monitor services quickly as rentals occur every second.
Share Now adopted a cloud‑agnostic platform (primarily AWS and IBM Cloud) with Kubernetes, Terraform and Puppet, and implemented New Relic APM and Browser Monitoring to centralize metrics, logs, traces and dashboards. The unified observability enabled faster root‑cause identification, far fewer outages, improved customer experience, higher DevOps productivity, and company‑wide dashboards that support real‑time operational decisions and ongoing cost and performance optimizations.
