Case Study: HolidayCheck achieves minutes-level issue resolution and faster releases with New Relic

A New Relic Case Study

Preview of the HolidayCheck Case Study

HolidayCheck gets MTTR down to minutes

HolidayCheck, a leading travel review and booking site founded in 1999 and now operating in 10 countries, handles massive scale (about 25 million monthly visits and millions of reviews and photos). Rapid growth, seasonal traffic spikes, an expanding codebase, and a managed-hosting setup with only basic Munin/Nagios metrics left the team with poor visibility into application behavior, frequent performance issues and slow, time-consuming incident resolution.

HolidayCheck implemented New Relic (APM, Servers, Plugins, Mobile) to monitor its LAMP apps and new Scala/Node services on AWS, enabling load testing, capacity planning, and a single interface for ops, development, and QA. The result: mean time to resolution dropped from half a day to minutes, teams adopted a DevOps approach with more frequent releases, and the company can proactively optimize performance as it transitions to Docker/Mesos microservices.
