FIT Radio Cuts Average Troubleshooting Time from Hours to Minutes with Help from New Relic

FIT Radio is an Atlanta-based fitness music streaming service that delivers DJ-curated, high-BPM playlists via mobile and desktop apps. With a small engineering team, the company struggled with reactive monitoring — performance problems were often reported by users and troubleshooting could take hours or days, hurting uptime and user experience.

By deploying New Relic APM (notably the dashboard and Transaction Traces) to monitor both development and production, FIT Radio can pinpoint slow calls and server-specific bugs instantly. Troubleshooting time dropped from hours or days to mostly under an hour (many fixes take under 20 minutes), uptime improved from around 98% to effectively 99.999%, and developers can now focus more on product improvements rather than firefighting.
