A New Relic Case Study
Fanzter, a Charleston-based consumer web and mobile company founded in 2007, builds popular products like Coolspotters, CoolPapers, Streaks, and Summizer and drives millions of monthly page views. With more than 32 million page views and performance-critical mobile APIs, the small team found log-based analysis slow and unreliable and needed real-time production visibility to keep the site fast, introduce features, and maintain stability.
Fanzter installed New Relic’s Ruby agent, RPM and Real User Monitoring across its stack to track web traffic, mobile APIs, background jobs, and servers. Transaction tracing and RUM quickly exposed slow SQL queries and a DNS-related international load regression, enabling targeted index and caching fixes and validating production impact. The result was faster detection and resolution of performance issues, improved site stability and speed, and New Relic becoming a standard part of their development toolkit.
