Despegar.com, Latin America’s largest online travel agency, needed better visibility into its applications after moving from a monolithic to a microservices architecture and migrating to Java. With developers and ops in silos and no separate QA team, production issues were a “black box,” making it slow to identify and fix errors and to understand customer-impacting problems.
Despegar implemented New Relic APM, Servers, Custom Dashboards, and Insights across development and production to centralize performance, server, and business metrics. The tools gave developers real-time visibility into application health, sped error detection and resolution, helped detect and block abusive web crawlers to lower operating costs, and enabled monitoring of dozens of apps from a single interface—improving customer experience and developer ownership.
