A New Relic Case Study
CURE is a nonprofit network of charitable hospitals that has treated millions of children with correctable surgical conditions. With a lean U.S. headquarters (35 staff) and a four‑person IT team supporting a global operation, the CURE.org website is the organization’s primary fundraising and communications hub. As traffic and media attention grew — and after launching the CUREkids iOS app — the site began suffering intermittent, hard‑to‑reproduce outages and performance spikes that the small team couldn’t diagnose with homegrown tools.
CURE adopted New Relic (starting with the free tier, then upgrading to Pro and New Relic for Mobile) to get end‑to‑end visibility. Transaction Traces quickly identified a single function causing 30‑second page loads, allowing CURE to eliminate the outages and address additional issues within days. The team consolidated monitoring into one tool, saved hours of troubleshooting each week, launched a data‑driven site “fitness plan,” and now continuously monitors web, patient database, and mobile app performance to improve reliability and donor engagement.
