Culture Amp is a Melbourne‑based people and culture platform used by thousands of companies to collect and act on employee feedback. As the company moved from a monolith to many microservices in AWS and set an aggressive growth target, its engineering and SRE teams faced growing deployment complexity and delays—new services could take weeks to ship while still needing to meet strict security and reliability requirements.
To solve this, Culture Amp built Silk, an automated CI/CD and governance platform (using AWS CDK) that includes built‑in observability via New Relic. Every deployment is auto‑instrumented with standard dashboards and alerts for the golden signals, enabling SRE best practices around SLIs/SLOs/SLAs. The result: time to get new features into production fell from weeks to hours, engineer effort for instrumentation was cut, incidents are detected and resolved faster, and teams can deploy frequently with confidence.
