Case Study: CancerCare achieves faster, more reliable website performance and higher team productivity with New Relic

A New Relic Case Study

Preview of the CancerCare Case Study

CancerCare Coding for a good cause and delivering great online service

CancerCare is a national nonprofit founded in 1944 that provides free support to people affected by cancer and serves over 100,000 clients annually. As its website grew to more than 600,000 visitors a year, the organization needed a full redesign to make the site faster, easier to use, and more reliable, including a migration from PHP to Ruby on Rails and a shift from basic analytics to real-time performance monitoring.

The team implemented New Relic to pinpoint bottlenecks and monitor site health using Apdex scores, error alerts, and transaction tracing. This real-time visibility let developers find and fix slow transactions at a granular level, prioritize high-impact work, eliminate guesswork, and significantly boost productivity and site reliability for users.
