Case Study: Western Tidewater Community Services Board achieves improved care coordination and expanded telepsychiatry access with Netsmart

A Netsmart Case Study

Preview of the Western Tidewater Community Services Board Case Study

Virginia’s Western Tidewater Community Services Board partners with Netsmart for increased care coordination

Western Tidewater Community Services Board (WTCSB) partnered with Netsmart to tackle fragmented care in Virginia’s behavioral health system. Clinicians frequently lacked timely medication and clinical records when consumers moved between community programs and hospitals, telepsychiatry sessions couldn’t always feed into electronic records for billing, and four different EHRs across nine CSBs plus a shortage of psychiatrists made coordinated care difficult.

WTCSB implemented Netsmart’s CareRecord™, CareConnect™ and OrderConnect™ and built the first interface with telehealth vendor Eceptionist to exchange CCDs, ADTs and medication orders via HL7. The solution enables secure information flow between sites, sharing of clinicians across CSBs, streamlined state reporting and supports Meaningful Use — driving better transitions of care, expected cost savings and measurable improvements in consumer outcomes.
