A Netsmart Case Study
Rosecrance, a Rockford-based nonprofit behavioral health provider serving the Chicago/Northern Illinois area, struggled with Illinois Rule 132’s rigorous “golden thread” requirements: annual assessments, multi-level sign-offs, and strict documentation. The manual, time-consuming process created compliance risk, threatened Medicaid reimbursements, and consumed clinicians’ time with audits and administrative work.
Partnering with Netsmart to deploy myAvatar as a single EHR, Rosecrance implemented a staged rollout and automated the validation logic so services can only be posted when a filed, valid treatment plan exists. The solution prevented coding errors, automated formerly manual processes, ensured on-time Medicaid payments, saved about 400 clinician hours per year, increased billings, improved compliance, and gave the organization greater confidence and future readiness.
