Red Rock Behavioral Health Services, one of Oklahoma’s largest community health providers with inpatient and outpatient centers in 24 counties, aimed to lead in information technology by connecting to the statewide HIE (SMRTNET) to meet Meaningful Use requirements and exchange Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs). Their challenge was to become the first behavioral health provider on the network and enable reliable, timely sharing of patient records across diverse care settings.

They implemented Netsmart’s CareConnect, working closely with SMRTNET and Netsmart through rapid, weekly collaboration to build a standards-based interface. Red Rock went live in about two months, exchanged 640 CCDs in the first month, and gave clinicians fast, simple access to medical history—improving correct treatments and crisis stabilization while reducing costs and redundancies and supporting more whole-person care.
