A Netsmart Case Study
Ohioans Home Healthcare, founded in 2007, is a home health provider serving 34 counties across Ohio and Michigan. After Josh Adams became CEO in 2011, leaders found nurses frustrated by disorganized paper documentation and time-consuming back-office processes, which hurt employee satisfaction and recruiting. The agency needed an easy-to-learn EHR that would be rapidly adopted by field clinicians and let nurses focus on patient care.
Ohioans implemented Netsmart myUnity for its simplicity and one-hour initial training; nurses now document on iPads with customized forms. The EHR streamlined documentation, coding and billing, improved clinical workflows and patient satisfaction, and reduced hiring pressure (about 85% of new hires are referrals). Since adoption the agency has grown from roughly 50 to ~2,500 patients and from a handful of staff to over 350, with high patient recommendation and top workplace recognition.
