Mountain Lakes Behavioral Healthcare, a community mental health center serving more than 4,000 people annually in Marshall and Jackson counties, faced a looming statewide shift from Medicaid fee‑for‑service to commercial managed care and pay‑for‑performance (effective October 2016). To avoid underbidding or overpricing services and to manage financial risk, the organization needed clear, timely clinical and financial data to understand true treatment costs and support contract negotiations.
In 2015 Mountain Lakes implemented Netsmart’s Enlighten Analytics and was live in 30 days, building on its existing Netsmart CareRecord. The self‑service analytics replaced slow Crystal Reports, delivering faster, more accurate reporting, time savings, and actionable insights into cost‑per‑treatment and outcomes — enabling better rate setting, program decisions and confidence in negotiating managed‑care contracts, with anticipated cost savings once the new payment model takes effect.
