A NetCracker Case Study
Telefónica UK (O2), the UK’s second-largest mobile provider with over 25 million customers, faced two major challenges: implementing the UK Government’s Smart Meter Implementation Programme (SMIP) — the world’s largest M2M initiative covering 53 million devices — and launching a large-scale partner “Charge-to-Mobile” revenue-sharing ecosystem to let customers buy third-party services billed to their phone bill. Both programs required scalable, real-time rating, billing and mediation across diverse event types and a complex multi-party environment on tight timelines.
O2 extended its use of Netcracker’s Revenue Management solution via Hosted Managed Services to deliver microservices-based rating, billing and mediation, real-time transaction management, and partner revenue-sharing capabilities. The deployment allowed O2 to operationalize billing with minimal upfront cost, enable innovative pricing and business models, support a large partner ecosystem, and validate Netcracker’s managed-services approach while delivering a simplified, mission-critical experience for customers.
