NEC and Netcracker Contributes to NTT's Network Slice Trial

NEC and its subsidiary Netcracker teamed with NTT to support the NetroSphere Concept — a vision for flexible, cost‑effective networks that dynamically meet both customer and service‑provider needs. The challenge was to verify network‑slicing technology that can route device traffic to the most appropriate network in real time, enabling on‑demand use of resources and a variety of low‑cost services across fixed and mobile domains.

NEC/Netcracker supplied a virtualized CPE (vCPE) solution and an IoT Service Enabler that together distribute traffic to the optimal network and adjust distribution rules based on live traffic status. The trial validated the network‑slicing approach, demonstrated accurate network status assessment and bandwidth control with 3GPP‑compatible equipment, and showed how these components can enable advanced services — with plans to add AI for enhanced monitoring and analytics.
