Penn State Automates Acceptance-Letter Mailing Process with Folder/Inserter and Output Management Software

Penn State’s Multimedia and Print Center, the university’s 55-employee in-house print service provider, needed to automate the high-volume mailing of student acceptance packets. The manual process was time-consuming, error-prone, and risky because each package had to match the correct student and campus address while handling sensitive personal information securely. Neopost USA was brought in to help replace an outdated inserter and meet these security and accuracy requirements.

Neopost USA implemented a DS-200 folder/inserter with OMS-500 multi-channel communications management software integrated with Satori address cleansing software. Using 2D barcodes, the system automatically determined page counts and the correct inserts for each admission packet, eliminating much of the manual work. As a result, Penn State cut delivery time from a few weeks to as little as three days, reduced human error, and brought formerly outsourced work in-house to save time and money.
