A Muck Rack Case Study
Colgate University, a leading liberal arts institution, needed a faster, more reliable way to find and pitch the right journalists for faculty experts and to measure media impact. Media relations staff faced time-consuming research and inconsistent contact data from other PR tools, making targeted outreach and reporting difficult.
Using Muck Rack’s advanced journalist search and filters, Colgate built precise media lists and used in-platform pitching to track opens and engagement; Coverage Reports quantified impact. The team cut a list of 100 reporters to 40 high-priority contacts, secured a Bloomberg Financial TV spot and New York Times interest for a faculty panel, and measured major event coverage (193 articles shared 277,000 times by 156 journalists), improving efficiency and confidence in their media work.
