Banco Pichincha Grows 18% of Mobile Banking Usage With Personalized Push Notification

Banco Pichincha, Ecuador’s largest private bank with over 1.8 million customers, wanted to move customers from physical branches to its mobile app and introduce data-driven, personalized communications. To replace a limited plain-text push system, Banco Pichincha partnered with MoEngage and adopted MoEngage Push Notifications and Sherpa – Best Time to Send to deliver richer, contextual messages.

MoEngage implemented colorful, highly personalized push campaigns and AI-driven timing to send messages when customers were most likely to engage. As a result, Banco Pichincha’s mobile banking usage rose from 49.7% to 61% (an 18.5% increase), DAUs grew from 750K to 1.3M, and 30-day active users increased ~66% (Feb 2022–Mar 2023); Banco Pichincha plans to expand additional MoEngage features across its martech stack.
