The City of San Jose’s Department of Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance team needed a better way to handle field inspections and data collection. Inspectors were using paper forms and digital cameras, then clerical staff re-entered the information into the city database at the end of each day, creating delays and the risk of data entry errors. To streamline this process, the city turned to MobileFrame Business Suite™ from MobileFrame.
MobileFrame implemented a mobile inspection and data collection solution that eliminated duplicate data entry, improved data accuracy, and automated work scheduling and assignments. The system enabled inspectors to capture rich data such as photos, voice notes, barcodes, sketches, and signatures, and download it directly into city databases in real time or via MobileFrame’s Smart Architecture™ when connectivity was limited. As a result, the City of San Jose reduced clerical costs, increased workforce productivity, and is now expanding MobileFrame’s solution to other city departments.
