Aquila Inc., a Kansas City-based electric and natural gas distribution company serving about 900,000 customers across five Midwestern states, needed a better way to manage facility maintenance work. Using MobileFrame’s Business Suite, the company was struggling with paper-based processes and duplicate manual data entry for work orders, inspections, inventory tracking, and asset management, which was time-consuming and error-prone for both field technicians and office staff.

MobileFrame implemented configurable mobile applications for work orders, inspections, and asset inventory that synced directly with Aquila’s Archibus system. Technicians could assign and complete jobs, scan barcodes, capture signatures and notes, and update records in the field, which eliminated manual transcription and improved real-time access to data. The result was increased productivity, reduced errors, and major efficiency gains for Aquila Inc., with the project manager describing the improvement as “through the roof.”
